Probability-Based Fast Intra Prediction Algorithm for Spatial SHVC

Due to multi-layer encoding and Inter-layer prediction, Scalable High Efficiency Video Coding (SHVC) has extremely high coding complexity. It is very crucial improve its speed so as promote widespread cost-effective SHVC applications. In this paper, we propose a new probability-based fast Intra prediction algorithm for spatial SHVC. More specifically, first, integrate depth probabilities with textural based all-zero blocks all-nonzero through Lagrange Interpolation Polynomial (LIP) derive thresholds early skip unlikely depths terminate selection. Second, mode combine Jarque-Bera test LIP the residual coefficients of reference (ILR) mode. Third, adopt difference Hadamard Costs (HCs) horizontal, vertical diagonal directional modes predict candidate (DMs), then exploit both percentages gradient amplitudes HCs DM termination. Experimental results demonstrate that proposed can achieve up gain more than 61% 0.03% decrease in Bjøntegaard Delta Bit Rate on average.
